Carol and William Ochse
Carol & William Ochse are no strangers to doing things their own way. With backgrounds in racehorses and business, it’s no surprise that something non-traditional like cask whiskey ownership would appeal to them. Hear them explain why they were ‘thoroughly convinced’ by Whiskey & Wealth Club.
‘Extremely impressed’
‘I would have never, ever thought of it!’ Carol Ochse enthused about the prospects of cask whiskey ownership on a recent distillery tour. Though she and her partner William had never considered the opportunity, it didn’t take long for the pair to see its potential.
With a unique background in business and racehorses, Carol and William are no strangers to doing things a little unconventionally. And cask whiskey ownership offers a unique proposition: the relative security of more traditional assets like art or property combined with the chance to be on the vanguard of an emerging market. It’s no wonder, then, that cask whiskey ownership has caught the attention of a growing contingent of pioneers.
Not yet as established as other asset ownership opportunities, cask whiskey ownership is still a new frontier. Those interested may be aficionados but not yet well-acquainted with the particularities of the industry, so we encourage any potential clients to join us on our monthly tours of our partner distilleries. We’ve spent years building relationships with the distillers we long admired, and now we’re proud to share their craft and expertise with our clients.
‘It was a great opportunity,’ William shared with us after touring one of our partner distilleries. ‘Obviously the product of many years of experience from a very dedicated group.’ It’s one thing to read about cask whiskey ownership and entirely another to experience the very place where the casks are filled. Watching the whiskey-making process unfold in person gives one a new appreciation for the spirit itself and the centuries of tradition that have made it what it is today.
And on a more practical level, our tours help clients get to know us and our partner distillers a little better and get any questions they may have answered by the experts themselves. This particularly impressed Carol, who concluded, ‘After the tour today and the information given, I think we’re thoroughly convinced.’
